Dr. Nicole Thaxton is known for creating meaningful relationships and treatment plans with her clients. She enjoys working with high achieving entrepreneurs, teens and students, educators, moms, and professionals. She understands the unique challenges of “high achieving” individuals and families related to anxiety, stress, pressure, perfectionism, grief and loss, and trauma. Dr. Nicole also works with blended families and families experiencing separation/divorce, loss, and relational challenges. When appropriate, Dr. Nicole enjoys working with clients who wish to incorporate their faith into counseling.

Dr. Nicole is a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) with a deep passion for counseling supervision and training. She offers clinical supervision for licensure, consultation, and supervisory oversight at Atlanta Wellness Collective. As a frequent presenter and trainer on counseling supervision and ethics, Dr. Nicole provides continuing education for mental health professionals across Georgia. In collaboration with The Knowledge Tree, she teaches the required 30-hour certification coursework for aspiring clinical supervisors both in Georgia and nationwide. In other words, counseling supervision, ethics, and education are Nicole’s jam. She also writes the monthly newsletter, Empowering Leadership with Dr. Nicole Thaxton, offering leadership tips, ethical insights, and field updates for leaders, helping professionals, and clinical supervisors.

Dr. Nicole is a sought-after communicator and avid writer. Beyond the realm of counseling, she has presented to a diverse range of audiences, including small and large organizations, government agencies, non-profits, business leaders and teams, school counselors and educators, parent groups, churches, and youth groups. As a passionate advocate for mental health, she has been interviewed on numerous podcasts discussing high-functioning anxiety, mental healthcare, and leadership. Her online blog and email newsletter, The Anxious Achievers Club, provide helpful tools and encouragement to thousands of weekly readers.

Dr. Nicole lives in Marietta with her husband and two daughters. She is a third-generation native of metro Atlanta who received a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Mercer University in Atlanta, a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University with certificates in Trauma Counseling and Child and Adolescent Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Georgia (go dawgs!). She has counseled in private practice in Cobb County since 2016.
