How did I get into this career?

Counseling is my second career and the culmination of a lifetime of learning, rich life experiences, and my own growth as a person. My first career was as a corporate regulatory lawyer, and I loved helping and supporting business professionals in their work. When my second child was premature and had health issues, I chose to leave my career to stay at home for a season.

Over the next couple decades, I experienced a wide range of joys and challenges that come with marriage, parenting, community involvement, and maturing as an adult. It has been a rich story full of all the ups and downs, trials and victories of real life. As my children became more independent, I went back to school and attended seminary, which launched a new journey. During that time of exploration, learning, and growth, I not only benefitted from the support of my professors, pastors, family, and friends, but I benefited from the help of an amazing therapist. She helped me navigate life challenges, rediscover myself, find my voice, and uncover my strengths and passions. I now have the privilege of integrating all my experiences, growth, and learning into a career of helping others as a professional counselor.

What is my favorite thing about counseling?

I love to deeply connect with people. It’s a sacred privilege to hear another person’s story and to let them know that they are loved, heard, supported, and accepted in whatever challenges they are facing. It brings me joy to support my clients who are facing brave discoveries, overcoming daunting challenges, and making bold choices to live within their values in meaningful ways.

What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

When I’m not seeing clients, I’m spending time with my family. I have a husband and four children (ages 23-11), and every day is full of new and interesting stories, challenges, and celebrations. We love to travel together, especially internationally, but also enjoy relaxing at home with our two golden-doodles in our renovated farmhouse. My favorite mood booster is sitting on a covered porch in the rain.

What do I hope for my clients?

I want my clients to feel known, safe, and deeply accepted in my presence, to experience first-class care, and to increase their wellness in meaningful ways. I want my clients to be able to look back on their time in counseling as a wise and wonderful investment that produced ongoing significant rewards in their life.
