How did I get into this career?

Psychology, the inner workings of the mind, and the fragility of the human condition have always fascinated me. As a PK (Preacher’s Kid) in a family of three, financial constraints meant I could not pursue my study dreams right after school. Instead, I built a successful marketing career that carried me through my 30s. Then, the sudden loss of my mother became a turning point. I realized I wanted more out of life: purpose, meaning, and the chance to help others find the same. So off to school I went. Some six years later, I was stood on the stage of Liverpool University, wearing a black robe and graduation cap, finally, with my dream, a psychology degree.

What is my favorite thing about counseling?

My favorite thing about counseling is creating space, giving space, and holding space. It is a privilege to fill space with love, grief, pain, joy, sorrow, curiosity, change, reflection, and with people.

What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

My ‘active rest’ involves fine tuning my fitness, a grand book (generally non-fiction), studying (yes I am that nerd), tending to the chaos of family life, and discovering a new life here in the US, and what it means to live in this land of the free, and the home of the brave.

What do I hope for my clients?

As Brené Brown said, “You can’t get to courage without walking through vulnerability.” My hope is for my clients to see their vulnerability as conduit for growth and courage. My hope is that their growth and courage create a space for healing, a deeper connection to self, and a renewed curiosity and desire for life itself.
